My love for Jurassic Park is skin deep. Literally. I’ve had a strong admiration for the franchise since I was a little kid. My dad and I would watch Jurassic Park on television every Sunday when it would come on after Xena and Star Trek. One of the most iconic scenes for me then, and still today, is when the T-Rex eats lawyer Donald Gennaro off of the toilet.
From the moment my love affair with Jurassic Park began my
dinosaur obsession became real. My parents and I would go to the Natural History museum and I would stare at the dinosaurs for hours.
More recently I made my dinosaur love even more pronounced by getting a custom design of a t-rex skull and flowers tattooed on my arm. I’ve wanted to get some ink for a long time, but decided I didn’t want to get something until I was really ready to commit. I felt like with the new movie coming out (Jurassic World) there was no better way to celebrate the franchise’s revival and to truly embrace my love of dinosaurs. I had a great recommendation, and got my tattoo at Golden Age Tattoo in Austin, Texas by the extremely talented Annie Mess. I thought the process would take forever, but it only took twenty minutes! The only part that was really painful was the part near the base of my wrist, near the bone. Miraculously, I didn’t cry! Though tears of joy were spread when I sat in the car ride home and stared at it happily.
